Andrew Henderson is Director of Music at King Edward VI School in Stratford-upon-Avon. After reading Music at St John’s College, Oxford, he taught in Portsmouth and Oxfordshire before arriving in Stratford in 2008 as Assistant Director of Music.
Since 2008, Andrew has combined his teaching and performing careers, accompanying individuals and ensembles as well as becoming a member of Birmingham Cathedral Choir, Ex Cathedra and Orchestra of the Swan Chamber Choir. He was for a time Director of Music at Holy Trinity Church, stepping aside to allow for a full-time appointment to be made.
Andrew’s latest recording is ‘Day of Cloud and Thick Darkness’, a short (25-minute) album of harpsichord music for Lent. This is available for download on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon MP3.
Other recordings include ‘Gold on Blue’, a collection of jazz standards recorded by the School’s jazz band, and ‘O for a Muse of Fire’, available on Albion Records, on which he conducts the school orchestra in a collection of previously unrecorded incidental music by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Both are available from www.shopkes.net.
